例：Takuro was beating the drums like crazy last night.（昨晩、タクローはめちゃくちゃドラム叩いてたよ。）
「鼓動する」「脈打つ」
例：My heart was beating fast when I saw my boyfriend.（彼氏に会ったとき、胸がドキドキしていた。）
「打ち勝つ」「勝つ」
例：Our team beat theirs in the finals.（私たちのチームは決勝戦で相手チームに勝った。）

beat よく使うイディオム
- beat around the bush … 遠回しに言う、核心を避ける
例：Stop beating around the bush and tell me what happened.（遠回しに言わないで、何があったのか教えてよ。）
- off the beaten path /track … 人があまり行かない／知られていない（場所や道）
例：We found a lovely cafe off the beaten path.（あまり知られていない素敵なカフェを見つけたよ。）
- can’t beat (something) … ～に勝るものはない（最高だ）
例：You can’t beat that price!（その価格は最高だ！（それ以上に安い（良い）ものはないよ。））
例：You can’t beat a hot cup of coffee in the morning.（朝のあったかいコーヒーって最高だよね。）
- beat someone to it … 先を越す、出し抜く
例：I was going to grab the last donut, but John beat me to it.（最後のドーナツを取ろうとしたけど、ジョンに先を越された。）
- beat the clock … 時間内に終える、間に合わせる
例：We managed to beat the clock and finished before the deadline.（なんとか時間に間に合って、締め切り前に終わった。）
- beat oneself up … 自分を責める
例：Don’t beat yourself up over a small mistake.（ちょっとしたミスで自分を責めないで。）
- beat it! … あっちへ行け！／立ち去れ！
例：This is private property. Beat it!（ここは私有地だ。さっさと出て行け！）
※ 命令形の強い表現。Go away! よりも少々乱暴に聞こえます。
