最重要事項を最初に、という意味のフレーズです。

First things first. の意味と使い方
「まずは一番大事なことから取りかかろう」「まず優先すべきことは…」という意味で、優先順位をつけて話したいときに使います。
例：
A：There are so many tasks on the board.（ボードにタスクがたくさんあるね。）
B：Well, first things first. Let’s deal with this one.（じゃあ、まず最優先のものからいこう。 このタスクから片づけよう。）
C：Got it. That’s our top priority.（了解。これが最優先だね。）
例：
A：Which one should we start with?（どれから始める？）
B：First things first. Let’s begin with this one.（まずは一番大事なのから。 これにしよう。）
例：

いろいろな「大事なことから。」
- Let’s start with the most important thing. …「まずは一番大事なことから始めよう。」
※ 一番優先すべきことにフォーカスして進めるときの表現。
例：Let’s start with the most important thing — deciding our goal for today.（まずは一番大事なことから始めよう。今日は何を目指すか決めよう。）
- Let’s deal with the main thing first to put things in order. …「物事を順序立てて行うために、まずメインのことを片づけよう。」
※やるべきことを整理して中心の作業から片づけたいときに。
※ in order = 「整った状態で」「順番どおりに」
例：Let’s deal with the main thing first to put things in order — once that’s clear, everything else will go smoothly.（物事を順序立てて行うために、まずメインのことを片づけよう。それが決まれば他もスムーズに進むよ。）
- Let’s get the important stuff out of the way first. …「まず大事なことから片づけちゃおう。」
※やるべきことを先に終わらせてスッキリしたいときに。
例：Let’s get the important stuff out of the way first so we can enjoy the rest of the day.（まず大事なことから片づけちゃおう。そうすれば残りの時間を思いきり楽しめるよ。）
- Let’s tackle the main thing first. …「まずメインのことに取りかかろう。」
※本題や主要タスクにしっかり取り組みたいときに。
例：Let’s tackle the main thing first and sort out the budget issues before anything else.（まずメインのことに取りかかろう。何より先に予算の問題を整理しよう。）
